C-DoT and IIT-GN Sign MoU for Establishing a Centre of Excellence

On November 8, 2025, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) and the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE). This initiative aims to foster cutting-edge research, innovation, and the development of indigenous products in the fields of telecommunications and cybersecurity.

Objectives of the Centre of Excellence

The CoE is designed to accelerate India’s leadership in telecommunications and technology by combining C-DoT’s extensive expertise with the academic excellence of IIT-GN. The centre will serve as a hub for both fundamental and applied research, focusing on critical areas such as:

  • Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The CoE will facilitate collaboration among students, faculty, and researchers from both C-DoT and IIT-GN. Significance of the MoU

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DoT, and Dr. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT-GN, along with senior officials from C-DoT and faculty and students from IIT-GN. In his address, Dr. Upadhyay emphasized the importance of creating a dynamic and collaborative environment through the combined strengths of both institutions. He stated, “Such initiatives play a vital role in advancing next-generation telecom technologies, encouraging the development of intellectual property, and strengthening India’s position as a global leader in technological innovation.”

Dr. Upadhyay also highlighted the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” which aims for a self-reliant India capable of meeting its own technological needs while contributing to global progress through indigenous innovation.
