IIT Madras offers two BS Degree programs:

Eligibility Criteria for IIT Madras BS Degree Admission 2026

To enroll in the BS Degree programs, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

BS in Data Science and Applications

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed Class 12 or an equivalent examination.
  • Other Requirements: Candidates should have studied Mathematics and English in Class 10.

BS in Electronic Systems

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics.
  • Other Requirements: Students who have passed Mathematics and Physics separately through NIOS or any other equivalent organization are eligible to apply.

Accepted Class 12 Equivalents

The following qualifications are recognized as equivalent to the Class 12 standard:

  • A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
  • Any public school/board/university examination in India or abroad recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma.
  • Higher Secondary Certificate vocational examination.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized board/university.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

Admission Process for IIT Madras BS Degree 2026

The admission process for the IIT Madras BS Degree involves the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website: iitm.ac.in/academics/study-at-iitm/non-campus-bs-programmes
  2. Select the desired BS degree program.
  3. Sign in using your Google account to access the application form dashboard.
  4. Fill out the application form with the required details.
  5. Pay the application fee.
  6. After payment, submit further details and upload the required documents.

Note that once the payment has been made, candidates cannot make any changes to their application. After uploading the required documents, candidates will be allowed to start the qualifier phase, which includes coursework, assignments, and the qualifier exam.
