IIT-Madras Brings Innovation-Based Tamil Learning Model ‘Vidyashakti’ to Kashi

Varanasi, India – The Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 exhibition, held at Namo Ghat, is showcasing a significant initiative by IIT Madras known as ‘Vidyashakti’. Currently, Vidyashakti is operational in 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh, where it conducts live Tamil classes daily from 2 PM to 2:30 PM in 650 schools.

Vidyashakti aims to position Tamil not merely as an academic subject but as a practical language essential for daily life, communication, and professional environments. This approach helps to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications, making Tamil more relevant to learners.

Wider Reach and Impact

Vidyashakti’s impact extends beyond India. The initiative is currently active in:

• 7,210 villages across India
• 5,000 villages in Sri Lanka

The launch of Vidyashakti in Uttar Pradesh was graced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a significant milestone in the initiative’s journey. Since its inception, Vidyashakti has been associated with the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, contributing to the promotion of Tamil culture and language.

Digital Didi Program
