IIT-BHU Holds 14th Convocation Ceremony

On October 16, 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, celebrated its 14th Convocation at Swatantrata Bhawan. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as a total of 1,995 graduates from various academic programs received their degrees, marking the culmination of their hard work and dedication.

Graduates and Academic Achievements

The convocation ceremony honored students from diverse disciplines, showcasing the institute’s commitment to academic excellence. The breakdown of graduates included:

  • 1,090 B.Tech students
  • 363 Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) students
  • 282 M.Tech/M.Pharm students
  • 48 M.Sc. students
  • 16 B.Arch students
  • 196 Ph.D. scholars

In recognition of outstanding academic performance, 123 medals and awards were conferred upon 62 meritorious students during the ceremony.

Notable Award Recipients

Among the distinguished awardees, Ananya Singh, a B.Tech student from the Department of Chemical Engineering, received the prestigious President’s Gold Medal. In addition to this honor, she was awarded 13 gold medals, one silver medal, and three other awards for her exceptional performance across academic and leadership domains.

Furthermore, Aditya Kulkarni, an IDD student from the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and Suyash Vijay, a B.Tech student from the Department of Civil Engineering, were recognized with the Director’s Gold Medal for their overall academic excellence at the undergraduate level.

Ceremony Highlights

The convocation ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who conferred the medals and awards along with Prof. Amit Patra, Director of IIT (BHU), and Sumit Kumar Biswas, Registrar of IIT (BHU). The award distribution was conducted by Prof. Devendra Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs.

To commence the event, floral tributes were paid to Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting, Vedic chanting, and the institute anthem. Prof. Amit Patra, in his capacity as Chairman of the Senate, declared the Convocation open and presented the institute’s annual report, highlighting its achievements and milestones over the past year.

Messages of Encouragement

Sukanta Majumdar, the Union Minister of State for Education, conveyed his best wishes to all graduating students through a video message, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to society.
