‘AI for All’ 2.0: IIT Madras Expands SWAYAM Plus Free AI Courses to School Teachers of all Classes across India
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced an expansion of its ‘AI for All’ initiative, aimed at providing free artificial intelligence (AI) courses to school teachers across India. This initiative is designed to enhance the skills of educators from Kindergarten to Class XII, making AI education accessible and inclusive.
Overview of the Initiative
The ‘AI for All’ courses are being offered through the SWAYAM Plus platform in partnership with the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation. The courses are available in an online format, allowing teachers from various backgrounds to participate without geographical constraints.
New Course Offerings
In addition to the five existing courses, a new course titled ‘AI for Educators’ has been introduced. This course specifically targets K-12 teachers and aims to provide them with essential AI knowledge and practical tools to enhance their teaching methods, assessment techniques, and student engagement strategies.

Course Details
Each course has a duration ranging from 25 to 45 hours and is offered free of charge. SWAYAM Plus is an initiative under the Ministry of Education that aims to provide high-quality, employment-oriented learning opportunities to learners across India. Currently, the platform hosts over 430 online courses across more than 15 sectors, including Engineering, Banking, Financial Services, and Hospitality. Many of these courses are credit-aligned and vetted by IIT Madras experts.
Impact of the Initiative
As of now, over 370,000 learners have registered on the SWAYAM Plus portal, demonstrating the growing interest in online education and AI training. The ‘AI for All’ initiative is expected to further enhance the quality of education by empowering teachers with the necessary tools and knowledge to integrate AI into their teaching practices.
